City of Peoria Guidelines - Trash and Yard Waste
Recycling Waste Placement and Pickup
On your collection day, set the recycling cart at the curb or alley—wherever your trash cart is picked up.
Carts need to be put out no later than 6 a.m. on your collection day. They may be put out as early at 3 p.m. the day before.
- Ensure your cart lid is closed and that your recycling cart is positioned three feet away from your trash cart.
- Do not put needles, hazardous waste, yard waste or electronic waste inside your cart.
After pickup, move the recycling cart from the curb or alley within 24-hours. Place them in your garage or alongside your house or garage. They cannot be in the front or back of your house or block sidewalks or alleyways.
Yard Waste Placement and Pickup Your yard waste is collected the same day your trash is picked up.
Yard waste may be set out as early as 3 p.m. the day before pickup and must be out by 6 a.m. on your scheduled day to avoid missing a collection. After pickup, move your yard waste container from the curb or alley within 24-hours. It needs to be placed in your garage or alongside your house or garage, it cannot be in front or the back of your home, left on the street or sidewalk.
Trash Placement and Pickup
Your trash cart will be emptied every week. Trash may be set out as early as 3 p.m. the day before pickup but must be out by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day to avoid missing a collection.
After pickup, move the trash cart from the curb or alley within 24 hours. It needs to be placed in your garage or alongside your house or garage. Carts cannot be in front or back of your house. Your cart should never be left on the street, sidewalk or right of way.
Bulky Waste CollectionBulky waste is defined as items too large to fit inside your trash cart such as furniture, mattresses, building materials and other oversized items. If you have bulky waste, you may call GFL at (309) 688-0760 to let them know your address, but you are not required to. GFL will pick-up your bulky waste regardless of prior notice. Then, simply place these items next to your cart (with three feet of separation) at your curb or alley on your scheduled pickup day. No loose items will be collected.
Note: If it can be placed in a bag, bag it. Bulky items do not include electronics or tires.
